The right bass fishing rod will greatly boost your success in angling. How so? Because the rod is the pillar of your tackle - tackle manufacturers in fact have elevated rod-building to a science where today, anglers have a thousand of choices.
Selecting the right bass fishing rod does not need to be difficult, provided that you recognize what you need. Though not all rods are created equal and unluckily, not a single rod can perform everything, you can begin your selection by following these easy guidelines:
- Note that for fishing bass you will need a weighty rod for worms, somewhat limber and long, rod for crankbaits, a stiff and short rod for spinnerbaits and a very light rod if you want to use ultra-light lures. Spinner or baitcasting types of rods will perform all actions.
- Hold the rod and test its grip to make certain that the handle snugly fits your palm.
- Also test if it is flexible enough. Hold the rod and pretending to cast, flip its end – the tip should move.
- If trying to buy a used fishing rod, check the rod carefully for cracks.
- Select the rod length. 4.5 – 6 feet of length rods are suitable for using lighter bait. Shorter rods will work excellently in brushy or grassy areas. Rods measuring 6.5 feet and longer will work well for using larger bigger baits and longer casting distance.
Almost all sporting goods shops have rod experts to assist you and help you select the right bass fishing rod. It is very important that you know how often you will be fishing since this too, will be considered especially as far as your budget is concerned.
Have fun!
